The first row of each square forms 2 sides, with a decrease in the middle of every second row. The final row is only 3 stitches. I like the effect of the different coloured squares.<br />

My granddaughters like tie-dyed clothes, so we decided to do our own.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
They had great fun tie-dyeing everything from socks and undies to tops and pants:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
The Pioneer Women's Hut is an unusual museum in many ways. Far from major metropolitan centres or even major tourist sites, it is located outside Tumbarumba, a small town in New South Wales about 480km southwest of Sydney.<br />
<br />
However, it is worth the effort to visit the Pioneer Women's Hut because its collection focuses on "the ingenuity of women in finding solutions to the challenges of looking after a family in early rural Australia. I went there in search of material relating to clothing and textile sustainability, particularly the use of needlecraft skills to prolong the life of clothes.<br />
<br />
I found items used for mending and darning:<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSojZmPecEIhST0kWtZZS2jUkvDb3MTTkdbcbXdIWHreTMrMicxX_0juEOxmJwIKzjgudPIHhRGRHzT6kyALdYAJsfzPwbqVeGDh91jzGeRJx53wfAnTefLdO-NotkgFzFuBfWmEH5OOM/s1600/DSC_3983.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1063" data-original-width="1600" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSojZmPecEIhST0kWtZZS2jUkvDb3MTTkdbcbXdIWHreTMrMicxX_0juEOxmJwIKzjgudPIHhRGRHzT6kyALdYAJsfzPwbqVeGDh91jzGeRJx53wfAnTefLdO-NotkgFzFuBfWmEH5OOM/s320/DSC_3983.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And the most darned sock I've ever seen - why buy (or make) new socks when another darn will suffice:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrvc5F7eKTFBQpMIKb2ioYfuFkFGucRqLSgMDAd53mGpNsOkfn0XBfmRfqDIA7gH-fVhPckjpW3l0eCepm7D5y-xuYpP-DiU-hB-i-7f7PPydnkcEUlo3gAk5A-m0Nb90_s9IVgDqJhBI/s1600/DSC_3999.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1063" data-original-width="1600" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrvc5F7eKTFBQpMIKb2ioYfuFkFGucRqLSgMDAd53mGpNsOkfn0XBfmRfqDIA7gH-fVhPckjpW3l0eCepm7D5y-xuYpP-DiU-hB-i-7f7PPydnkcEUlo3gAk5A-m0Nb90_s9IVgDqJhBI/s320/DSC_3999.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>

These cloths have been neatly patched. (The red thread marking the repair might seem unnecessary but this photo is an enlargement - the repairs can be difficult to find.)<br />

This beautiful crocheted cloth is testament to the ingenuity and resourcefulness of the women who made it from over 200 pieces of cotton string unravelled from the tops of sugar and flour bags:<br />

Small scraps of fabric were used for rag rugs, which provided comfort and a burst of colour, although I think they might have been very labour intensive to make:<br />

The middle fabric is the lining.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCmbekT_sBRNtsykf3F9ouARky8dwkpfXJNvLga19X6QRjvbjUDt-VVWiCzsBfyDnE8JwpwEWXR7d1seSANQkBS8ufj1qehfgYKeMnpO4aJhnz2XnVpSvspGTAekWCg3lxTQwGOAQ-TM8/s1600/DSC_3630.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1063" data-original-width="1600" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCmbekT_sBRNtsykf3F9ouARky8dwkpfXJNvLga19X6QRjvbjUDt-VVWiCzsBfyDnE8JwpwEWXR7d1seSANQkBS8ufj1qehfgYKeMnpO4aJhnz2XnVpSvspGTAekWCg3lxTQwGOAQ-TM8/s320/DSC_3630.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I've put a few more stitches on my hand embroidery piece:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNuulsxx2dEJNTIgC0baT8IWJ5uDpdclpwAtU5n2dEa49JiKH41URZlFJeCttM-qU-CUAn99XSByxCtbI7ys8fOLgmf-xwfz3EA7rAKzM0JGFTeFF200Ov6pivmdpXQiU5OU7EeRx2iwk/s1600/DSC_3631.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1063" data-original-width="1600" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNuulsxx2dEJNTIgC0baT8IWJ5uDpdclpwAtU5n2dEa49JiKH41URZlFJeCttM-qU-CUAn99XSByxCtbI7ys8fOLgmf-xwfz3EA7rAKzM0JGFTeFF200Ov6pivmdpXQiU5OU7EeRx2iwk/s320/DSC_3631.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>

And my knitting project is progressing:<br />

<br />
I really like this pebbly one:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_LiL1nvU2Smm03oBIcYJ-8i7LlrjioxWLAUX-jwjoNlbyUcG11BxD0FiwL6nvVPK7pVoZq3E-7B-75I3f9rvnOHwIsshn-rkg5epyBJhYa1b11fCTsCoIK0nw1kH0P5FmkLjTaPA2cww/s1600/DSC_3598.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1063" data-original-width="1600" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_LiL1nvU2Smm03oBIcYJ-8i7LlrjioxWLAUX-jwjoNlbyUcG11BxD0FiwL6nvVPK7pVoZq3E-7B-75I3f9rvnOHwIsshn-rkg5epyBJhYa1b11fCTsCoIK0nw1kH0P5FmkLjTaPA2cww/s320/DSC_3598.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
This one is very similar to the one featured in my <a href="http://keepingtothelimits.blogspot.com.au/2017/10/scrap-bin-project-2.html" target="_blank">Scrap Bin Project 2</a> post. I wouldn't normally repeat an idea but a friend "really, really liked" the previous one, which I'd already promised to someone else - and I still had plenty of aqua fabrics. Fran was delighted to receive this one:<br />
<br />

Definitely more to do but I'm happy with what I've done so far - and I'm getting to use some of my hand-dyed fabric:<br />

I've done a few more (more than 100) stitches on the Pebbly Beach, although it's hard to see the difference from last week - and there are still plenty more to go:</div>

I'm pleased with these pieces, particularly the aqua ones, which I'll make up into cushions:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFpWyh11NLope7JUTC7HA9OE6FkRLKiTvkwWS2AVE0uH0Tweio74zjEklVYYRcDRCTwh8c4vFiUtU-vS0c9ynm8UbLrWwYsKSurXQk9I8Nh5Jqu-3G-FHDUSbEiIaCEHiL7Tb2w-IlmNM/s1600/DSC_3579.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1063" data-original-width="1600" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFpWyh11NLope7JUTC7HA9OE6FkRLKiTvkwWS2AVE0uH0Tweio74zjEklVYYRcDRCTwh8c4vFiUtU-vS0c9ynm8UbLrWwYsKSurXQk9I8Nh5Jqu-3G-FHDUSbEiIaCEHiL7Tb2w-IlmNM/s320/DSC_3579.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I seem to have been working on this embroidery forever - well, at least for most of this year. I don't know why I thought it would be a good idea to fill in the entire background with French knots.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2OJVuh-67aMGa9xujsoj-E3t3cZpgPfrdUF7BYR4683sA9ppm-x0L_NgTcnJEj2d2MQs_Himi2r5cjFUFGvUy7mBO7jfUWJRM3LqgBm_bvpeUJd5Jtm0qrgjXgz6tlpuh-hTsUTupIAg/s1600/DSC_3591.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1063" data-original-width="1600" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2OJVuh-67aMGa9xujsoj-E3t3cZpgPfrdUF7BYR4683sA9ppm-x0L_NgTcnJEj2d2MQs_Himi2r5cjFUFGvUy7mBO7jfUWJRM3LqgBm_bvpeUJd5Jtm0qrgjXgz6tlpuh-hTsUTupIAg/s320/DSC_3591.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It is also taking me a long time to knit this blanket - I started it last year - but I only have 2 strips (40 squares to go). It might get finished this year . . . if the weather doesn't get too hot too quickly.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I like the wavy effect.<br />

It's going to take a lot longer than a day to use them all up but I started with this aqua cushion, courtesy of granddaughters' dresses - Queen Anna dresses (Frozen movie) and Under the Water themed birthday parties:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
This one features kookaburras and a flower that is vaguely Australian (I've seen the flower before but not in that colour):<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAABMNG2XvkYrgLbJwsa-Yq5mxr-4IKWSvD0kwJakghx-DSrcFS5FkM1Z7HPURRisX3IzkZxK8VWLSa_5pPwvGiTfpJCO2e1KG2665eNh5sNUv0i7VmkGxTm6oeUB3hRY7ee3vanPid6Y/s1600/DSC_3414+%25282%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1569" data-original-width="1600" height="313" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAABMNG2XvkYrgLbJwsa-Yq5mxr-4IKWSvD0kwJakghx-DSrcFS5FkM1Z7HPURRisX3IzkZxK8VWLSa_5pPwvGiTfpJCO2e1KG2665eNh5sNUv0i7VmkGxTm6oeUB3hRY7ee3vanPid6Y/s320/DSC_3414+%25282%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And this is the back, which features a strip of the fabrics used on the front:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDlu68hBvIl0xU_gGKfLWY9fjXTVHW9iykqSMieT_hSouY4RMSy20yDQB3CoIZ8q-eh4LG7eHB6XDwY2BDXTJh94eCjjNCvZ23mDb9WI0UREebOX3s68wacAmO4bWQTAxUGjCmIicg8G4/s1600/DSC_3424.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1550" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDlu68hBvIl0xU_gGKfLWY9fjXTVHW9iykqSMieT_hSouY4RMSy20yDQB3CoIZ8q-eh4LG7eHB6XDwY2BDXTJh94eCjjNCvZ23mDb9WI0UREebOX3s68wacAmO4bWQTAxUGjCmIicg8G4/s320/DSC_3424.JPG" width="310" /></a></div>
<br />
This one is more colourful and includes koalas as well as kookaburras:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiK15aRtST_QZrBt7NOM3dXr6WkRfUfrUvD7UsvCpYp0LdVRHJwkEXuEdNWvh7t09QkG25_aWGjeE40r5D3wjRIU6qc8hZ_XeW8V_iZ6iSfXe1-3tNs5yXyHbmuVnR3AelDN7aW9QCVbc/s1600/DSC_3431.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1586" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiK15aRtST_QZrBt7NOM3dXr6WkRfUfrUvD7UsvCpYp0LdVRHJwkEXuEdNWvh7t09QkG25_aWGjeE40r5D3wjRIU6qc8hZ_XeW8V_iZ6iSfXe1-3tNs5yXyHbmuVnR3AelDN7aW9QCVbc/s320/DSC_3431.JPG" width="317" /></a></div>
<br />
The back also features a strip of the fabrics used on the front:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDDhr-Rp4JcKdlZqKPPAuYRY168YuIzDGxS4g83aH6JoIOsj2NKt1GY0wXXWrx0N4tctiZUcgVaqFPPTLvXYOf_FXZTqvBBKQZveM9XL1N8ADXH_8Nymh0keAUeprzD_Et3syk8xN7VPQ/s1600/DSC_3432.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1578" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDDhr-Rp4JcKdlZqKPPAuYRY168YuIzDGxS4g83aH6JoIOsj2NKt1GY0wXXWrx0N4tctiZUcgVaqFPPTLvXYOf_FXZTqvBBKQZveM9XL1N8ADXH_8Nymh0keAUeprzD_Et3syk8xN7VPQ/s320/DSC_3432.JPG" width="315" /></a></div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqupMAl_UJZmZ-iBjDlFp1_33dVQbt-8Ek-dlD9VYKlYqJLdRUZZdu6vGkL99UJO9ubt2WSEoaC2MnIk0kugE0TGsUXoXFX_p8zO3-waZOnCXD3-nx9O-gpD1ntF0b8XOmF5nOLSBRGlk/s1600/DSC_3400.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1063" data-original-width="1600" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqupMAl_UJZmZ-iBjDlFp1_33dVQbt-8Ek-dlD9VYKlYqJLdRUZZdu6vGkL99UJO9ubt2WSEoaC2MnIk0kugE0TGsUXoXFX_p8zO3-waZOnCXD3-nx9O-gpD1ntF0b8XOmF5nOLSBRGlk/s320/DSC_3400.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>

<br />
I also added a hand-painted scarf and some chocolates to the box. Unfortunately, this isn't a great photo but, as the scarf is now in Brisbane, I couldn't try to get a better photo:<br />

The first one, with the shaped flap and button detail, was for myself:<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="No automatic alt text available." class="spotlight" height="320" src="https://scontent-syd2-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/16864762_1001666673266448_7371230979816644226_n.jpg?oh=c43be81c357eedfde915d2702631009f&oe=59B3202B" width="212" /> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I didn't have a specific reason for making the second one, which is decorated with machine stitching with a variegated thread (black/grey/white), but it soon found a home:</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUCs6V4QxKTfXp78cy4PbB2FzyeIXrGjhh-oneYxXfcruNg_r-MTwmO_666XiWCpmB28vIKh-SdwawCUW7vcJWbZ61fTLOuIYmWoPa4dtbLKAwcHHxXqsmcCWEi_eIv0DKtiVsaX3bKaM/s1600/Striped+bag.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUCs6V4QxKTfXp78cy4PbB2FzyeIXrGjhh-oneYxXfcruNg_r-MTwmO_666XiWCpmB28vIKh-SdwawCUW7vcJWbZ61fTLOuIYmWoPa4dtbLKAwcHHxXqsmcCWEi_eIv0DKtiVsaX3bKaM/s320/Striped+bag.jpg" width="212" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
More recently, we attended a White Party, where all the guests were asked to dress in white. So, back to my sewing machine and I made the Japanese knot bag for myself:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfdZ87N02wR5L9sWW9rBoXz8qN4l-CUH8uuqUYQLRs9kxsFejRM3-phRsiHob0AqdisPxtYDAF4qWoxXzR3_tbCJbegqgCYKc9Oaa6uEW8Q7Tgzi_ISAMWGQnwe9aJCfuTxIoOPYNmamA/s1600/DSC_3441.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfdZ87N02wR5L9sWW9rBoXz8qN4l-CUH8uuqUYQLRs9kxsFejRM3-phRsiHob0AqdisPxtYDAF4qWoxXzR3_tbCJbegqgCYKc9Oaa6uEW8Q7Tgzi_ISAMWGQnwe9aJCfuTxIoOPYNmamA/s320/DSC_3441.JPG" width="212" /></a></div>
<br />
And a different bag for my daughter-in-law:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgY1Xe8mJAGy_LXJknvi_PYCYYtIs_DeJGhZWWYYv68UXkucmsqV6l3yNBXPHvXgCykQWQl6EapwwU3q-kmW0Z6gHBI59RB2D9oIwunpM5x1JCk0Rcxx5D_b6rHieXHEcnxKiPuc4ie_V8/s1600/DSC_3445.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgY1Xe8mJAGy_LXJknvi_PYCYYtIs_DeJGhZWWYYv68UXkucmsqV6l3yNBXPHvXgCykQWQl6EapwwU3q-kmW0Z6gHBI59RB2D9oIwunpM5x1JCk0Rcxx5D_b6rHieXHEcnxKiPuc4ie_V8/s320/DSC_3445.JPG" width="212" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I also made a gift for the White Party host - I wonder if he'll ever work out that the decoration is actually a birthday message:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

First, I crumpled the paper and then ironed it onto fusible interfacing. After doing some simple embroidery with perle thread, I glued the embroidery to the top of the painted papier mache box. I then used patinating wax, guilding cream and highlight waxes to complete them.<br />

Her only request was that it be blue or blue and white. I considered a number of techniques, including hand and machine embroidery, but opted for this patchwork approach:<br />

<br />
My granddaughter, Emma, showed me this picture and asked if I could make this outfit for her for Book Week. The character is connected with My Little Pony, which having started life as a toy has now progressed to an animated television show and a comic book. Not really my idea of a book character but she did ask nicely and gave me lots of warning - plus it was a challenge - so what else could I do?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here's my interpretation. Of course, Emma is normal girl shape and size - I think the girl in the picture above would have to be about 7 feet tall and thinner than Emma.</div>

My niece, Jodie, gave hers to me, saying that I could do whatever I liked with it. I decided to give some of it back to her in a different format. After much trepidation, I eventually pulled it apart and used some of the fabric, lace and beads for a crazy patchwork. I only added the stitching threads.<br />

There weren't many scraps so I also pulled out my box of old jeans, which I've been collecting for at least 10 years. I have used some of them in the past for <a href="http://keepingtothelimits.blogspot.com.au/2012/02/more-recycled-denim.html" target="_blank">cushions</a> and even a <a href="http://keepingtothelimits.blogspot.com.au/2011/12/everybodys-wearing-blue-jeans.html" target="_blank">journal cover</a>. But now I was ready to attempt something a bit bigger - a queen-size bed quilt.<br />
<br />
Now, I could have cut the fabric into squares but I thought it would look good in 2.5 inch strips (I'm really good at making things difficult for myself). So I cut lots and lots and lots of strips and joined them together into a strip that was about 140 metres (over 150 yards) long. It rolled up into a very large "jelly roll". I then cut it into 50 strips, each a bit over 2 metres long, sewed them together, and quilted it with ditch stitching (it felt like wrestling a boa constrictor).<br />
<br />
And here it is all finished:<br />
<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYkKBH3-ftMlzJuwdkLcdfOeEB5UwWk45VO4corwVtimDct3asT_siPzSGVfxijUQ-4t9k5-45G8qjKf3zg2xw_kwVAecKnzXz0f65hNHy4xoEtQ_45aqNZcoyIurU9FjcHC-2dId-ivA/s1600/DSC_2909.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYkKBH3-ftMlzJuwdkLcdfOeEB5UwWk45VO4corwVtimDct3asT_siPzSGVfxijUQ-4t9k5-45G8qjKf3zg2xw_kwVAecKnzXz0f65hNHy4xoEtQ_45aqNZcoyIurU9FjcHC-2dId-ivA/s320/DSC_2909.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I lined it with some hand-dyed fabric I had in my stash and included a zip pocket on the inside:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXDTFuh8UzufRjtSelIelEg2DMku3-BwYoF3OwJaHmzW30nPOSvqCDA7oQL11Z3FO_r2sHFAsUL8U0QSNAsAbv37SALo986rjWfPkUokk-hWMw_GQoNsJiKZhIemA0PYukryaDc9hRM2M/s1600/DSC_2911.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXDTFuh8UzufRjtSelIelEg2DMku3-BwYoF3OwJaHmzW30nPOSvqCDA7oQL11Z3FO_r2sHFAsUL8U0QSNAsAbv37SALo986rjWfPkUokk-hWMw_GQoNsJiKZhIemA0PYukryaDc9hRM2M/s320/DSC_2911.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I also made open pockets for the other side of the lining:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOXPpjFKaRwcwU6ME7mvDa_2MPO5dvZUPdiJgdtCzTiQUV5ufEeTeQ-2m5X4WpgKklXLyhW2a9kixllyETzy-mBaf53MlFR40sFjY-zvDBsmKvB_lEBNjEFleMtppmTWOKoRIUYwWgrME/s1600/DSC_2913.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOXPpjFKaRwcwU6ME7mvDa_2MPO5dvZUPdiJgdtCzTiQUV5ufEeTeQ-2m5X4WpgKklXLyhW2a9kixllyETzy-mBaf53MlFR40sFjY-zvDBsmKvB_lEBNjEFleMtppmTWOKoRIUYwWgrME/s320/DSC_2913.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And I made this bag, with an external zipper pocket, from the leftover fabric:<br />
<br />
